DELTA STATE MOTO TURBO SECURITY PROJECT

THE CHALLENGE: In the Niger Delta region of Nigeria, security challenge is real. This is underscored by youth restiveness and militancy, illegal bunkering of oil, kidnapping, other threats to life and property. Successive governments have faced this challenge with little success despite huge resource investments. Through careful research it is obvious to the present government that an integrated approach to security management platformed on real - time communication is a critical success factor. Placed side by side with the difficult topography of the Niger Delta region, the choice of a wide coverage communication approach becomes limited. We considered some options before settling on the Moto Turbo.

EVALUATING ALTERNATIVE COMMUNICATION APPROACHES.

We surveyed several alternative state-wide communication approaches noting their strengths and limitations. These include.

Analogue System – found to be inappropriate as it cannot be encrypted, so unsafe and prone to undue interferences; also incapable of relaying text messages.
Use of GSM phones – apart from being too cumbersome, GSM lacks the ability to cover every part of the state, is comparatively more expensive, and suffers from frequent system breakdown
Motorola Solutions – several Motorola- driven-solutions are available to meet the challenge, included are…MOTOROLA ASTRO, TETRA SYSTEM, however these were found to be a bit more sophisticated for our need. The Moto Turbo was found to be quite adequate, and able to deliver result as – intended.

WHY THE MOTO TURBO WAS PREFERRED.

Digital system with multiple features.
System flexibility; can be configured for wide coverage.
System can be encrypted; avoiding unwanted interferences.
Solution enables conventional users, even on different frequency bands, to utilize voice and data communication across an unlimited geographic area via a simple IP link. This without monthly service fees.

WHY WAS DIZENGOFF PREFERRED TO DELIVER THE SOLUTION

Over the years, we know Dizengoff to be the leader in wireless communication in Nigeria, with proven track record, delivering state of the art, seamless, integrated and efficient solutions. The Delta project engaged Dizengoff for these strengths, and are pleased that our expectations were even surpassed.

Given regard to Dizengoff’s performance on our Moto Turbo project, and the now proven result of the solution to the security management challenge of our state, we are sure to involve the Dizengoff in future state-wide communication projects.
