Dizengoff Public Health
Control the mosquito, control the disease
The public health division at Dizengoff is developing rapidly. One of our most important projects is to supply a range of vector control products to prevent the transmission of malaria. This requires a multi-faceted integrated approach, making use of indoor residual spraying insecticides, long lasting insecticide nets, and outdoor larviciding insecticides to protect Nigerian residents from exposure to infection. All of our products have low toxicity, and are all approved by the ''World Health Organisation Pesticide Evaluation Scheme'' (WHOPES).
Enhancing public health in Nigeria
Our ultimate goal is to provide private sector clients and public institutions, such as the hospitality sector, hospitals and schools, with a complete solution to control the insect, and pests that cause the pressing public health problems in Nigeria. In addition to integrated vector management, we also provide products for environmental management, personal protection, pest and insect control as well as protective clothing and fumigation equipment and products. The safety and reliability of all our products is backed by the reassurance of the Dizengoff brand.
We are also seeking to introduce products that reduce the mosquito population responsible for spreading yellow fever, dengue fever, and sleeping sickness. Our parent company, Balton CP, is also investigating ways to control tsetse fly in collaboration with European researchers.
Although Dizengoff does not supply drugs or medicines to treat malaria, through liaison with our parent company we are researching the growing of Artemisia seedlings, using Nigerian growers, to help reduce the shortage of the artemisian component of the very effective Artermisin Combination Therapy (ACT) used to treat malaria across Africa.
